Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Services

A NJ premier formulator providing contract manufacturing services to the beauty industry, in December 2010, saw a fire break out at its corporate office building which hosted its in-house datacenter. Its email and business application server were off-line for over 48 hours which caused it over $50,000 in expenses and an undisclosed amount in revenues.

Objectives:

With its business growing at a brisk pace, the manufacturing company was beginning to appreciate the need for a reliable, resilient and secure IT infrastructure that could support the growing needs of its expanding business operations. There is a need for an IT infrastructure which could withstand the ravages of a disaster. Obviating business disruption is a top priority. While this is a key imperative, building a new in-house datacenter is a huge CAPEX investment including OPEX costs incurred with hiring skilled personnel to maintain specialized datacenter and security teams.

Solution:

Client adopted the NuvoSys “Cloud Infrastructure” global best practices with their managed resiliency and security services which included datacenter hosting, managed security and 24×7 monitoring through their Global Monitoring Center. This ensured that the system was reliably protected from spam and other online threats; hence, staff and customers were also protected, adhering to all relevant regulations, and maintaining messaging security with little or no management overhead. Also, the company converted their entire CAPEX intensive initiative into an OPEX model while taking care of its future growth through a technology refresh.

New Operational and Business processes were documented by a NuvoSys Information Risk Professional, who created Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plan. The BCP/DRP Plan was implemented and tested successfully.

Benefits:

  • Mitigated the risk of having the primary datacenter running from our premises
  • Hosted in a world class datacenter with 24×7 monitoring by qualified personnel
  • Limited internal IT Staff can now focus on new business growth projects
  • Significant business risks removed
